Flying LIS-DSS on a TAP Airbus A321neo
Senegal: My 128th Country

Greetings from Senegal, my 128th country! I flew here from Lisbon, Portugal, (LIS) on TAP Air Portugal. This flight put me over 1.5 million miles flown! To be precise: 1,501,728.

I arrived at LIS at 1:56 p.m. after flying there from Barcelona (BCN) at the conclusion of my 17-night Costa Pacifica Caribbean and trans-Atlantic cruise from La Romana, Dominican Republic. So glad I have a United Airlines/Star Alliance lounge membership! I had a seven-hour layover at LIS before my connecting flight to Senegal. I headed to the TAP Premium Lounge.

Flying BCN-LIS on a TAP Airbus A320

I’m on my way to Senegal! With Uber unavailable in Barcelona, I took a city bus and then Aerobus to BCN airport, where flew on a TAP Air Portugal Airbus A320 to Lisbon (LIS).

Earlier today I disembarked Costa Pacifica after a 17-night Caribbean and trans-Atlantic cruise from La Romana, Dominican Republic. I had planned on taking an Uber from the Port of Barcelona to BCN airport, but was stunned to find out Uber is no longer available in Barcelona. Instead I took the Cruise Bus out of the port, and was dropped off about 10:15 a.m.

Now I needed to find a way to the airport by mass transit, since I assumed a taxi would be too expensive. I checked Google Maps on my phone. Going by subway would take forever; Google Maps suggested taking Bus D20 and then the Aerobus instead.

Flying MCO-SDQ on a JetBlue Airbus A321;
Van Shuttle to Port La Romana, DR

I flew from Orlando (MCO) to Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, (SDQ) early this morning, then took a van shuttle a little more than an hour to the Port of La Romana, where I’ll be boarding Costa Pacifica for a 17-night Caribbean and trans-Atlantic cruise to Barcelona, Spain.

Van left SDQ at 9:50 and we drove eastbound on Dominican Republic 3, arriving at 11:01 a.m. To my shock, there is no cruiseship here!

Flying SFO-MCO on a United Boeing 737-900

Another amazing adventure has come to a close! Mom and I flew from San Francisco (SFO) to Orlando (MCO) and took Village Airport Van back to her house. Travel time from our guesthouse on Tahiti Island to Mom’s place = 24 hours 22 minutes.

We began the daylong journey by flying from Tahiti to San Francisco on a United Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner. After clearing immigration and customs, we settled into the United Club in SFO Concourse E to wait out our six-hour layover.

Flying PPT-SFO on a United Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner

Mom and I flew here from Tahiti Island in Economy Class on a United Airlines Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, the first leg on the long journey back to Florida after our three-week stay in French Polynesia.

Boarding began 10 minutes early at 9:40. We were #4&5 on the standby list, and received Economy Class seats 38F and 39F. On board, I noticed on the United app that Economy Plus Seat 21F became available. I told Mom, but she didn’t want to move, so I grabbed the seat with extra legroom.

Flying SFO-PPT on My 42nd Birthday
My 16th Territory

It’s my 42nd birthday and lucky me, I flew in United Airlines Polaris Business Class from San Francisco (SFO) to Papeete (PPT) – the newest international route flown by United. Thrice-weekly service began Oct. 30, 2018, and United is the only U.S. airline to fly here from the mainland United States. This is my 16th inhabited territory and Place #146 on my quest to visit all 234 countries, territories, and de-facto nations.

Flying MCO-SFO en Route to French Polynesia

And off we go! It’s my first foreign trip of 2019 and my second year as a global nomad as Mom and I head toward our three-week getaway in French Polynesia – a new foreign territory for me. We started the journey today – my birthday eve – flying from Orlando to San Francisco.
