Dakar Day #3: Crippled by
Hypersomnolence; Never Left Hotel
April 14, 2019
DAKAR, Senegal – I was completely sidelined by severe fatigue today, sleeping 18 hours for the second consecutive day. I didn’t get out of bed until sunset, meaning I lost this entire day and didn’t get any sightseeing done.
Got up at 7:23 p.m. when my phone alarm went off marking sunset time. OMFG I slept the entire day! Went to bed at 1:20 a.m. this morning after sleeping 17½ hours yesterday, severely limiting my sightseeing time. Massive hypersomnolence struck again today as I spent 18 hours in bed. This is unreal.
I had planned to visit Goree Island today, but that will have to wait until after I return from Saint-Louis (where I’m traveling to tomorrow). It sucks to have lost the entire day today due to my sleep disorders.
Ate snacks and watched “NCIS.” Worked on various tasks until getting ready for bed at 11:07, feeling lousy. I have no energy. Two super-long snoozes in a row equals two pretty much wasted days. It’s really depressing. My sleep disorders seem to be worsening. It sure makes traveling difficult when these massive bouts of fatigue hit, seemingly without warning.
I needed to pack. Argh, I really don’t want to relocate but I’ve got a hotel booked up in Saint-Louis for the next two days. And I hope to pop into Mauritania as well to check that off my list. Saint-Louis lies on the coast right at the border.
To make this day even worse, I had to get online to pay bills. Ate another snack, watched another episode of “NCIS” (the TV show I’m hooked on right now). Bed at 1:45 a.m.
Since I didn’t get any other photos today, let’s take a look at the currency of Senegal: The West African CFA franc is the currency of Senegal and seven other nations: Benin, Burkina Faso, Guinea-Bissau, Ivory Coast, Mali, Niger, and Togo.
